The Code of Civility
Our Commitment to a Respectful
and Productive Workplace

Dr. Karl Albrecht

Dr. Karl Albrecht, author of the international best-seller Social Intelligence: the New Science of Success— the book that's becoming a must-read manual for enlightened executives and managers — offers his Code of Civility for organizations.

It's a ten-point plan — and pledge — for building and sustaining what he calls a "culture of civility" in any organization.

For about the cost of
a month's worth of office supplies,
you can make it happen!

What is the Code of Civility?

Karl Albrecht's ten commandments — or commitments — of civility are the product of years of research with organizations of all kinds. Corporations, government agencies, military commands, healthcare and social service providers, schools and colleges, public sector agencies, trade and professional associations – all need healthy and productive cultures to achieve their missions.

He has refined these ten timeless principles to exactly 100 words, and explains each of them succinctly in this simple, easy-to-read, thought-provoking booklet.

Principle 1, for example, prescribes that "Our leaders model and encourage a culture of civility." Principle 2 prescribes that "We treat each other with respect, courtesy, and consideration." Principle 4 says "We value the diversity in people, ideas, and points of view." Number 7 says "We cooperate between work groups, not putting 'fences' between us."

How Can I Use the Code of Civility?

The Code of Civility is a high-impact, low-cost way for you to introduce the principles of "social intelligence" to everyone in your organization.

You can purchase booklets for all members of of your organization, distribute them through your managers and unit leaders, and support them as they teach and promote the ten key principles of civility to everyone. Each Team Pack comes with a handy instruction card that guides the group leader through a brief meeting as he or she introduces the Code to the staff.

What's My Investment?

The cost per booklet is only $4.95 (minimum purchase is a "Team Pack" of 10 booklets). Just order as many Team Packs as you need for all of your staff. We can customize the cover design for your organization if you like.

The Code of Civility is a perfect companion to Karl Albrecht's book Social Intelligence, and to the Social Intelligence Profile, which is a self-scoring self-assessment questionnaire. The three products, together, serve as a toolkit that will enable you to introduce the concepts of social intelligence on a systematic basis throughout your organization.

If you'd like to try out the Code before you commit to a full purchase, just order one Team Pack of 10 booklets and share them with your colleagues and key leaders. Gain support for an organization-wide introduction and then go all the way!
